This is a portrait of my cat, Ki-Ki, who passed away a couple of years ago. I didn’t have sufficient detail in any of my own photos of her– still don’t have a very good camera– and so I altered a photograph I found online, moving her details and colors into the painting. This work took me several weeks to finish, working in between full time job hours and being a mom and wife. This painting symbolizes the beginning of a new technique for me, layering in fur in different colors meticulously to get that soft, multi-hued feeling I have been searching for.
